2006-12-25 [Hedda]: It says "Any kind of usage". This competition is created so that we get really free images, otherwise it's totally useless. How fun is it to create a great image and then not be able to use, sell or do as you please with it?

Of course it's still not allowed to use a copied images on your Elftown presentation, but that's an Elftown rule, not legal stuff.

if A artist's photo is being used as reference for a total new peice of art created by B artist.. than B artist has a right to sell it and make money... without A being offended... too much... BUT if B artist were to take A artist's photo and sell with little or no changes made... A artist would have a right to be upset...

plus I removed the photo that had my son in it.. if Im not gionna know where its being used...

So if anyone wants to sell them, they are welcome to (Not that I get why anyone would buy them, as they are free here.). It will save the ones using the images a lot of problems as they don't have to read horrible legal texts to figure out how they can use the image.

[Lady Di]: Please don't submit more than 10 000 images... So: No. Try to put the best ones on top or on a special page though.

If the photos aren't totally free to use, they should not be here. There are already millions of horse photos on the Internet with crappy licenses which basically say "You can use this, but if you make money of it, we'll try to steal them from you." so there is no need for Elftown to provide such photos. Or: Say what you want, but I'm not interested in helping to provide unfree horse photos and therefore the rules above.

And is it okay to blur out the faces on humans riding them? I don't want to ask all of them for permission..x)

I've seen a lot of stock photos that's free to use as long as you mention who made them. But if I make a manipulation using 5 different photos, it's just too much work remembering all the names (yah..I'm lazy..). Of course I'd most probably say I didn't take the photo, and perhaps if I got all of them from, let's say DA, I'd say they're from DA. But not the names of everyone who took the picture.
When it comes to others claiming that they had taken the photos..if they wrote ''I took these with my camera'' I'd be a bit pissed because it's a lie, (but really..what to do about it anyway?) but if they made a manip and just didn't mention that the photos wasn't theirs I wouldn't mind too much when I've put them up here.
So I think it's a great idea. :D

IF the photo been USED to create new art... as reference for a CG painting... or a drawing... or as part of a photomanip... I dont mind if they dont name me... tho it be nice...

I know people who want their brushs they created linked back to them when they are used... but if you put them into your computer to use in photoshop ect... there isnt a way to note who's they were... and months later while working Im likely not to remember...

BUT I wouldnt want someone to use my photo without making it theirs in any way... and claim its theirs.. or their horse... I *hate* that kind of theif! its just so cheeep...
